Whew! Well that only took a few months. Starting a business is lots of work. Especially when you do it so that it doesn't interfere with ANY family time, or with my REAL job! So I am official. House of Pounce, LLC is now a registered Wyoming company. With any luck, I will be able to get things going just in time for the summer rush. It will be a great side job! I am excited because the boys will get to spend lots of time with me and their grandparents and cousins and lots of time bouncing in fun bounce houses...as that is one of their most favorite things to do! I have a business phone number in Laramie, so people won't have to call long distance. I have narrowed down my supplier, and insurance provider. The business cards are in print. Now I just have a few loose ends to suture, and I'll be in business. YAY! Owning my own business has always been a dream of mine, I hardly expected it to be in this line of work though. As I am pretty conservative, and well let's just say it...scared most of the time, I was starting to wonder if I ever really would venture out on my own. I am so blessed to have a supportive husband that really sticks up for me, and for my dreams! Also, I never would have gone into this business if it wasn't for my most valuable treasure...my boys. Thanks you guys for being strong and helping Mommy. Stay tuned for more updates.

House of Pounce

Well, I am so excited about every thing that is happening with the House of Pounce. I get my EIN and company seal this week! Also, the "initial ideal location" is still up in the air. My ideas and goals are HUGE...so I really have to reign myself in and remember: part time...extra money. As I am not quitting my real job, I have to remember that this is NOT my main priority. Even though it's much more fun!

Every thing has just sort of fallen into place. It started with a discussion that it would be nice to come to Laramie and meet with my friends and sisters somewhere safe and clean, with nice potties, where the kids could play safely while we chat. I then thought to myself that in Laramie, there are only a few months where the average temperature is over 65 degrees. January in Laramie, the park is OUT!

When I started looking into an indoor play structure I read study after study about childhood obesity. With two young boys running around my ankles, my goal became more clear. The more I studied, the more I found.

Then the "final straw" came with a video clip of Meridith Viera and the Today show. They had done a story on how structured our society has become. Everyone has their child signed up for ballet, karate, soccer, basketball, hockey, tutoring, etc. While we are all being "good parents" toting our kids around we have forgotten what it's like to just let them "go out and play".

There have been many changes in the last 20 years that prohibit us from letting our kids out of our sight for even a second. It's almost impossible to let them walk out the front door without worrying about what's on the other side. Yet it has been said over and over again that children's brains develop through play.

Thus the House of Pounce became a necessity rather than just a good idea. Let's have a clean, safe, inviting environment, where we can meet as a community and let our kids play in a non competitive arena and promote their health as well as their cognitive development. We're still good parents to take them to all their activities, but we have to remember; they are just kids...let's let them play!
